Studies from carbon capture projects

The Full-scale CCS project in Norway, now called Longship, was initiated in 2014. Based on the Norwegian Government’s CCS strategy, Longship has been developed in stages with several industrial partners and according to best practices for industrial projects.

The following reports are about carbon capture in Norway:

FEED studies for carbon capture

Fortum Oslo Varme (now Hafslund Celsio) and Heidelberg Materials finished their FEED reports in November 2019. Full reports can be downloaded below.

Concept studies for carbon capture

Fortum Oslo Varme (now Hafslund Celsio), Heidelberg Materials and Yara finished their concept studies for CO2 capture in 2017. Full reports can be downloaded below.

Feasibility study for carbon capture, transport and storage

In 2015 the Government initiated a feasibility study. The study was completed in November 2016. The report can be downloaded below:

‘Feasibility Study on Full-scale CCS in Norway’ (2016)

Pre-feasibility study for carbon capture, transport and storage

In 2015 Gassnova completed a pre-feasibility report, “Study report on potential full-scale CCS projects in Norway”, which identified several emission sources and storage sites that may be technically feasible for a CCS project. It also identified industrial players that may be interested in participating further. The report can be downloaded below:

Status report on possible carbon capture in Norway

Gassnova completed a status report in 2012, highlighting emissions sources that were considered relevant for further study. The report can be downloaded below but is in Norwegian only.
